If I enter Thailand on a Visa Exemption, am I am to convert that to a Non-O based on Marriage once into the country, or must I organise that Non-o from a Thai consulate outside? Just wondering if things have changed at all?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses whether a Visa Exemption can be converted to a Non-O visa based on marriage after entering Thailand. Community responses confirm that it is possible to apply for the Non-O visa in Thailand, provided that certain conditions are met, such as having enough time left on the entry stamp and that the local immigration office can process in-country applications. The dialogue also touches on the potential for miscommunication regarding visa applications, with some suggesting the need to apply outside Thailand.

I recently went to immigration in the city I am staying in and they told me you can't apply in country and have to do at a Thai embassy outside of Thailand. They suggested to me to go to Laos and apply there.

You can get an initial Non_O (Marriage & Retirement) inside Thailand. Which Office gave that poor advice?

What is stopping you getting your Non-O (marriage) before you travel to Thailand which does not require funds in a Thai bank account?

as I understand it the non-o visa you get before traveling to Thailand is not the final visa. You still need to report to immigration in Thailand and provide all the additional information including the evidence of funds, before you get the final approval from Thailand Immigration.

The Non-O is the ONLY Visa you will get as the 12 month Extension of Stay received inside Thailand is not a Visa, it is what it says it is, an extension of STAY not an extension of VISA

It's a Evisa single entry which you can extend for 12 mths. But a typo in the process meant I didn't get it and I can't get another one before my flight home.

you can apply for the initial 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai if you meet the proof of funds, if you have enough time left on your entry stamp (most offices require 15 days or more left on your current stamp)

AND

If the immigration office where you live can issue in country visas (not every office can do it)

So check with the immigration office that serves the area where you live to see if they can or can't issue in country Non-Imm visas at that location

Iโ€™m in Korat. They seem to take pleasure in being difficult so I doubt it ๐Ÿ˜‚

30 days may be a little short. Takes a bit to process so i would do a 60 day. I think they wanted 30 days processing

most offices require a minimum of 15 days left on your current stamp (30 day entry, 60 day tourist visa or 30 day extension from one of those) to do the in country Non-O application

Chiang Mai requires 15 BUSINESS days (about 21 calendar days) to do it but they are the longest processing time I know

@Tod ********
it wasn't less in Buriram

@Dao ********
it's 15 days or more left on your stamp in Buriram

The under consideration for an initial 90 day Non-O visa there is 2 weeks, then you go back to get the Non-O and new 90 day stamp inked in

Following. I was told I had to go out but Iโ€™d love to find out too
