I am currently on a visa exemption (already used my 30-day extension). If I leave the country and purchase a 60-day tourist visa, is it likely to be approved or will they want to see something more long-term given I just had the visa exemption?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on the possibility of obtaining a 60-day tourist visa after using a visa exemption in Thailand. Comments suggest that it's likely to be approved, provided necessary documentation is presented, such as proof of onward travel, accommodation, and financial means. Some participants recommend checking the specific requirements of the Thai consulate in a neighboring country and considering using a visa run service for assistance.

Thank you everyone for your recommendations.

Likely no issue *getting* the visa.

Just make sure, when you come back, you have the Three Proofs (accommodation, onward ticket, and finances) to show if you get pulled aside and questioned.

you will probably need proof of an out bound journey..(booked air ticket for example) to fulfil the requirements of the 60 day tourist visa.

I want to do the same. Which country is better for it? Singapore may be?

this is not a forum for shopping for a Thai Visa... suggest you an experienced Visa run service company IF they will take you to get a NEW Thai tourist visa. That is the way you will know your answer. Google it and ask for recommendations from those who live in your area of Thailand.

you should have no issue going to a thai consulate in a nearby country and getting a single entry tourist visa then coming back in

Pick a consulate, go to the website, read the requirements, processing time, if you need an appt booked online, etc and go get a single entry tourist visa

You'll get stamped in for 60 days and can extend that once for 30 more
