My husband is applying for DTV and I wanna apply with him as spouse and I am not working so do we need 500k baht or more? The posts were confusing as some people say yes and some people say no. Also how long should the money be present in the bank account (500k in total). Your help will be appreciated

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirements for applying for a DTV visa as spouses can be confusing due to varying rules by embassies. Generally, the primary applicant (the husband) will need to show funds—commonly stated as 500,000 baht—while the spouse may not need to have separate funds, depending on the embassy's specific requirements. Some participants indicate that a sponsorship letter from the husband and his bank statement may suffice. Therefore, it's crucial to confirm with the relevant embassy for their updated requirements, as they may change periodically.
I think you need to be more specific on two key items that will drive the answers (1) what type of DTV - medical, ‘soft Thai’ or digital nomad, and (2) which embassy will you be applying to ?
I have read from here (not personal experience) that the first spouse will only need to issue a letter confirming he/she is sponsoring the second spouse's application, there is no need for each spouse to have 500k bhats.
It’s 500 K per person up to two adults and two dependent children. For a couple it’s 1 million for a couple with two kids is 2 million. It doesn’t depend on the embassy.
that’s unfortunate as not everyone comes from the US or the UK and could simply get that amount ready which is not fair. However we were able to stay and live comfortably inside the country without having that amount ready at the spot
Anonymous participant that's what happens here multitude of answers each embassy has different rules also people here haven't experienced the process they just read something wherever and run with it. Scan for posts of people who completed the process then decide on place you will go and just follow the person who completed the process at that embassy
also like to add, not just which embassy you apply through, but it sounds like some embassies are changing their requirements as time passes. So best to look at recent applicants and not ones from July, August and probably not September.
Anonymous participant you need to state what embassy you are applying at as it varies in every location. As David states, there is no set rule that is enforced by every single embassy. If you are embassy shopping, I'd narrow it down by what country is most convenient for you, then look for posts regarding that location. If applying in person, you can both apply at the same time. If applying online you need to submit your husband's DTV with your application so make sure you allow time for the two applications.
Anonymous participant i did mine in Jakarta based on medical treatment. Was very easy and they only required current bank balance, not seasoned for 6 months as some do.
Applied monday morning, picked up Thursday afternoon.
Anonymous participant I applied in Cambodia, Now It took 10 business days. I don't know about other embassies. But usually other embassies just took 2-3 days.
its not a great answer, they often say. 'go read the web site'. 6 months seems like the longest ive heard the bank statements need to be back dated when applying in Malaysia.
it's not a great answer but there is no great answer. Probably not much help on the website of the embassy in question either. Best to actually contact the embassy and ask them
We all know many of the embassies won’t respond. That is the very reason like this page exists, so those applying can ask about the experience of those who already applied. A better question to ask the original poster is what embassy they are going through, so others that have used that one can share
