Do I need to report my return to immigration after staying in a hotel in Bangkok?

I am a UK passport holder and I live in Pattaya. I did my last 90 day report at the Immigration Office in Jomtien on 15 March. However, I went to Bangkok last week and stayed in a hotel there for 4 nights. The hotel photocopied my passport and I presume that they made a report to Immigration that I stayed there. Now that I have returned to my condo in Pattaya, should I go to immigration to report my return? I'll be leaving Thailand and returning to the UK on 10 May. Many thanks for any advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder residing in Pattaya inquires whether they should report their return to immigration after a short stay in Bangkok. Responses suggest that if the 90-day report was completed in March, there's no need for an additional report prior to leaving for the UK on May 10. Most users agree that since the individual did not change their residential address, they are not required to report their return, particularly since the hotel likely filed a report. However, they recommend confirming this with local immigration guidelines as rules may vary by province.

A bit of a gray area here as different provinces have their own thoughts on it. No form filling required but best to update, as IO calls it, within 24 hrs of returning to your abode once you have registered that you were out of your province. Failing which you may incur a fine when doing the 90 day report depending on the flavour of the day.

Do your 90 day report online. It's quick and simple. Can be done 15 days before or up to 7 days after 90 days

Korat immigration told me not re report if I was only visiting elsewhere in Thailand, only to report if I left for another country and returned.

No need

Normally yes you should report. But since you're leaving Thailand before you need to deal with immigration, in this specific circumstance there's no real reason to do so. Just report again when you return from abroad.

YES read that a farang visited the hotel for a nightstand, and when he visit the IO later, he got fined, report your address - have even read that, big-shout some deportation called for the deportation for that offense, never heard that gone thru yet 😭

No you don't. Many immigration offices don't require that anymore. Get your facts straight.

That is pure nonsense. There was a recent article about big joke enforcing the law for Chinese nationals but for the rest of us, merely failing to do a TM30 will at most, attract a fine. It's like traffic fines in Thailand, you can get an unlimited number and despite the new points system, it will not have any bearing on the validity of your license.

I heard on the local Thai news, my lines were verified there also by farang woman who was NOT living at her supplied condo address, a big boss a police guy, who said in the interview, they all should be deported, if they refuse to notify address change, read that article also

the hotels usually make a report if you are there need to tell IO that you are back to residence location again

The fine for not doing a TM30 is 1600 baht

yea, that's correct, beware that most hotels file a report that says your now staying here, You must "officially" submit a new TM30 when changing your permanent address within 24 hours, especially when moving to another province. You can only belong to one immigration office when doing 90-days reports and annual extensions, I've read of of folks get fined if they staying in province hotel, when doing business with IO in other, or get TM30 from the hotel that you are staying in, I've never bother with that rules, reply to OP, was read in newspaper recently, perhaps a little off topic

Also, back in 2019 they changed the law to make it easier for us due to widespread criticism. Nowadays you generally do one TM30 in your home province and then you're done. Unless you officially change residences again of course.

the fine was 4,000 baht in case of landlord unwilling to comply - 1,900 only😭

If you registered at immigration as living in Pattaya, no need. I did go, last year, after being abroad for a month. They registered again in Jomtien, but said, there was no need to do again. I do use, my drivers licence, when going to hotel here. Also, on your next 90 days, you fill your actual again, anyway.

Just get a re entry if you are coming back to Thailand again

If you did your 90 day report in March it won’t be due again until after you leave, so you don’t need to do another report until 90 days after you return next time.
