TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is uncertain about the validity of their visa once their work permit expires. While the visa remains stamped in their passport until next year, the consensus among commenters is that the visa is effectively canceled once the work permit ends. They must cancel their work permit and the extension of stay on the same day, and they cannot rely on the visa for any further stay in Thailand without applying for a new one.

If your new employer can not make any paperwork till November, you have to cancel your current Work Permit, visit Immigration and cancel your Extension of Stay, leave the country, come back with a Tourist Visa to cover the period till November and start the process of Work Permit and Visa again.

You do NOT have a Visa. The day your work permit stops, the Extension of Stay in your passport stops. That means end of this month as you declared. Staying in Thailand after the WP and Extension stops you are on Overstay and legible for a fine of 500 Thb a day.

, did you go to the immigration office and get an extension of stay for 1900baht? If you did, when you cancel your work permit you need to go and cancel your extension of stay, and either exit the country that day or you need to buy the 7 day get outta thailand stamp and go get a new visa. You cannot stay until the end of this extension.

If the stamp you have in your passport looks like the image Robert posted you don't have a visa you have an extension

I assume by the reply: Yes on did the school get this for you, you have an Extension of Stay based on Working for this school. At your last day of contract you or the school has to cancel the work permit, you have to take the cancellation letter to Immigration and cancel your Extension of Stay on the same day. You can apply directly for a new Extension but if you do not meet any of the requirements you will get a denial of the application and 7 days to leave the country. This is an EXAMPLE of the Extension of Stay stamp:

a Visa obtained at Embassy or Consulate outside Thailand stays valid even if your work permit is cancelled.

, this happens to many people, they do not realise the different between a visa and Extension of Stay. The Extension given at Immigration is based on working and the work permit as proof, as soon as the basis is gone, the Extension also goes. If you keep on running around in Thailand you could face the overstay fine, now even the blacklist and most of the times lots of hassle if you apply for new work permit and after that a new extension of stay.

Visa from Lao is Single Entry and gives you 90 days Admitted to Stay, than you went on Extension of Stay based on working, as soon the working stops the Extension of Stay stops.

I encountered this chain of events personally. I obtained a visa via Lao but after getting the work permit and extension I changed schools. I changed my work permit but foolishly believed my visa was still valid for 4 months. Upon attempting to renew my visa siracha immigration advised that my visa has expired when I left my previous job. My visa was cancelled immediately and kicked out of Thailand and requested a 20,000 overstay payment. This was a few years ago now.

Does not matter what somebody write down, it is a Visa and has his entry before date and stays valid till that date.

Even if the school is named on the visa?

It's unusual but I have seen it happen that the work permit and visa are not synced to the same date. Technically when you contract ends with the school they cancel the work permit which then invalidates your visa effectively canceling it.

If you have an Extension of Stay stamp till next year june from Immigration it ends on the day you stopped working.
