What do I need to show for accommodation and onward travel for a Tourist Visa (TR) application in Thailand?

Hello Group! I'm seeking tips about satisfying the accommodation and onward travel components of a Tourist Visa (TR) application. I included my 1-way flight arrival info and hotel bookings for the first 7 days while in Thailand. But, E-visa Immigration staff is requesting further documentation for the application: Onward flight + Accommodations for my entire stay (60 days) in Thailand.

Does anyone know if Immigration will ask for onward flight and/or my entire accommodations itinerary when I land at BKK? I intend to book an onward flight and hotel that I can change or cancel.

I’m curious if those bookings still need to be “live” for verification when I land, or if I’m in the clear on arrival as long as I was approved for the TR visa? Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on the requirements for accommodation and onward travel documentation for a Tourist Visa (TR) application in Thailand. They have provided initial hotel bookings and a one-way flight but have been asked for further documentation—specifically, details of onward travel and full accommodation for their entire 60-day stay. Community members share that while the embassy may request documentation for the entire stay, it is uncommon for immigration to demand detailed proof beyond the first night's accommodation upon arrival. Suggestions include booking hotels with flexible cancellation policies and understanding that immigration may only ask cursory questions regarding accommodation.

What consulate/embassy site are you using? Unusual to request accommodation for the entire stay unless you were applying for the STV rather than the normal TR.

Onward flight and any accommodation requirements for obtaining the visa are irrelevant once you actually have the visa. You have 90 days from issue date to use the visa. What flight you arrive on and what flight you leave on can be entirely different from what you specified an applying. Same with accommodation. It would be very unusual for immigration to ask for anything more than a cursory “where are you staying” type question on arrival. Meaning the first night or so. They understand that tourists normally don’t pre book their entire itinerary prior to arrival.

Thank you Stuart! Applying with the Los Angeles Royal Consulate. Agreed, seems unusual to request all accommodation for a single entry TR, given that I already provided a week's worth of hotel bookings.

I have no specific knowledge from that consulate but see some strange requests in posts about it. Mandatory insurance and the like.

You may be aware that as a US citizen (an assumption that you are) that you can arrive here with no visa and you get 30 days on arrival. That’s extendable once for a further 30 days at a local immigration office.

If the Embassy/Consulate dont want onward travel, Immigration may ask for it(it's an entry requirement but rarely asked for), the airline you're flying with will DEFINATELY want it.

@Steve ******
Thanks! In my current situation, the Embassy/Consulate is requiring bookings for onward travel + accommodation for entire stay during the TR application process.

Book hotel on Agoda or Booking. Com with free hotel cancellation. Screenshot then cancel booking. That's what I have done and was accepted

Got it, thank you Jim! So, just to clarify, upon arrival with my TR in hand, Immigration might ask for a name, but they don't go all-in and contact the hotel to confirm, correct? If so, I'll book a hotel on Agoda, submit w/TR application and cancel if/after TR is approved

@Nicholas **********
yes exactly. I've nothing booked only flights

I'm also cancelling return flight I booked when in Thailand, only have return flights booked to get on board plane. Once in Thailand will change dates of return flight

When I arrived I showed them my initial hotel booking and was asked where I was staying the rest of the time. Be prepared with an answer, just in case.

Thank you Daniel! When asked about accommodations for the remainder of your trip, did they require to see booking info, or just a verbal confirmation? Thanks!

Asking to show hotel stay for the full 60 days is not a normal request for TR visa, but they can ask for whatever they want as part of the visa process.

The airline will probably want to see onward travel when you check-in to your flight, but they won't do anything beyond take a glance at what you have.

Immigration may ask to see the first place you are staying even if it's just for 1 night, but they won't ask for anything beyond that.

Neither one of them will be checked in detail.

Got it, thank you so much for the info! I've previously entered with a 30-day visa exempt stamp and have never been asked for onward travel, or accommodation info.
