Hello. Do we have to justify every 6 months a digital activity, Thai lessons, cooking lessons, to be in order with immigration and not risk expulsion and being blacklisted? Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community consensus suggests that for certain visas, particularly the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV), you may be required to justify your learning activities (like Thai lessons or cooking classes) every six months to immigration. If your visa was granted based on such activities, proving engagement with the activities may be part of the requirements for visa extensions. However, there are differing opinions; some members indicated that simply exiting and re-entering the country might bypass these requirements for the duration of the visa. Additionally, there is ongoing discussion regarding the clarity and enforcement of these rules, as official guidelines have not been fully published.

As long as you enter and exit the country you will not have to justify or explain yourself more than the typical sentence or two customs asks when they stamp you in for as long as your visa is valid. If you choose to ask for an extension in country at the end of your 6 month stay it is likely they will ask you to prove yourself and may choose to hold you up to certain standards and possibly deny your extension. For example I have a multiple entry marriage visa. I come and and go whenever I want on it. Occasionally the customs person might ask do you still live at x place. I say yes and they stamp me in. When I go to immigration in country for an extension then they expect me to take my marriage certificate and this paper and that paper and prove im still married and grill me before they approve.

If you had read the posts about your question on this forum you would have the answer.

Of course, i'm going to do a presentation to immigration as to hpw I run my business and what I do exactly as i'm sure they're experts in my field.
Kevin *******
The visa doesn't mention the category you applied under. How could they ask you this?

In some cases that is not true, my DTV document mention "remote worker"

@Kevin ******
Correct, I've only seen one DTV with it stated in the remarks.

The immigration system holds far more information about your visa than what is mentioned on it. Why wouldn’t that information be transmitted to them?

Anonymous participant 697 Because Immigration has noting to do with Embassy which makes the Visa. One is Royal Thai Police, the other is Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Just leave every 6 months and come back. Much easier

Hmm

baht for 6 months visa would be expensive

It does make sense you can’t have 5 year visa for 2 weeks of cooking. But sense the rules not clear or gray they can probably change which makes sense.

the cooking classes I looked at are 120 hrs from 50,000-70,000

The soft power option was to get people into the country. The tourism and treasury departments don't give a stuff what happens after you've finished your two-week cooking class, provided you remain in the country adding to the economy. Immigration might think differently, but they'll soon have their wings clipped if they start messing people around

the new interview/video states that you would need to show updated documents for an extension, which would mean classes during the new 180 day period, funds, etc. however if you exit and return, then nothing needed

The consensus in this group is you will be required to every 6 months prove to immigration that you have been learning whatever it is you got your DTV for.

If you got it for cooking classes then they will expect you to cook some Thai food while they watch and taste it.

If you have been doing Thai boxing you will have to show some Thai boxing skills.

You get the idea 😊

Take a look at the recent posts, where an updated video from a DTV representative confirms that documents will be needed to extend the DTV in Thailand. As Andi mentioned, wait for official confirmation, but it seems credible. For now, this doesn’t affect those crossing the border and returning.

Anonymer Teilnehmer 697 he just said what immigration offices are telling us for months :p regarding the extension. but people reluctantly don’t believe them. lol

The rules on that, not yet published.
