Hello!

For Muay Thai DTV.

Do you need to prove every 6 months that you are still exercising or this is one time application valid for 5 years?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Muay Thai DTV visa, which allows holders to enjoy a long-term stay in Thailand, is currently expected to be issued once and remains valid for 5 years without the necessity to prove ongoing exercise every 6 months. However, the exact requirements for extensions or re-entries remain uncertain. Many individuals share their experiences, suggesting that while monitoring may not currently be enforced, there is apprehension about future regulations and their implications for expats.

If I was filing for a soft visa I surely wouldn't do it with a thai language class. Too easy for the immigration officer to start talking to you in Thailand and if he thinks you don't know 5 words a year later, that cancel stamp may come out.

I still don't see how they will keep a 5 year visa going for 2 or 3 doctors appointments. Makes no sense.

As of yet this visa isn't 180 days old. Nobody knows yet..IF approved on one hospital or dentist appointment or month Muay Thai and receive 5 years visa thats brilliant. Best visa ever

very very unlikely, Thai government won’t want miss out on the opportunity to keep investment pooring into soft power business

It’s still great value even if you have to sign up new Muay Thai course

Just about 2k baht a month whilst elite visa is 15k a month

My O visa expires April. Watching see how this is going. As probably many others same

Probably if you go for extension at immigration ,

Still great value …..about 150k for 5 years? Vs 900k for elite visa

Who know if you just exit/enter Thailand every 6 months though ….probably not…..probably only for the extension

No one knows truly.. But the expectation is once issued you can come and go for 5 years.

We dont know if or how extensions will happen at 180 days, and we dont know how immigration will look at border bounces or other re-entrys. It 'should' all work out as we hope, but its not certain and a few negative news stories or the usual farangs behaving badly linked to DTV's could cause problems. It feels like theres an undercurrent vibe that this visa is 'too easy' and Thailand is not getting enough out of this class is my personal suspicion.

I think people are getting it mixed up with the Education visa.

I own a muay thai gym and as of yet we have not been asked to monitor or report immigration

what happens say guy books course gets paperwork and doesn't appear? Know you can't control if students show up or not

nothing happens it seems to be totally up to the student. We have processed about 80 now and only 13 have turned up.... a few are in transit though.

We really want them to be students and allow the class allocation to remain on file indefinitely but if they dont come it doesn't seem to be an issue.

But I advise them all to come at least once and take photos just I'm case immigration ask when they extend

It's not 100% known yet but more than likely just a once off. Also more chance of not having to if you apply before they stipulate that as a requirement.
Jay *****
I think if you have 500,000 baht they don't really care at least that how it seems to me
Josh ****
@Jay ****
there is a difference between the consular services that issue the visa and the immigration group. Just because you can get the visa easy with soft power doesn't mean immigration wants you here if you aren't continuing soft power activities.
Jay *****
@Josh ***
well they have never said that you need to continue over the life of the visa but This is Thailand and anything is possible as we all know
Andrew *******
@Jay ****
it looks to be more of a visa for people who didn’t fit into any category before, so instead of an ed visa repeatedly or border runs repeatedly, if you have money and a qualifying reason to be here this visa is meant for you
Jay *****
Yeah but they can't change the rules and expect you to do Muay Thai for 5 years straight

@Jay ****
they can change the rules it’s upto them!!! Thailand ALWAYS changes the rules.
Josh ****
@Jay ****
immigration can visit you at any time to see if you are still doing a soft power activity.

@Josh ***
people have been successful with a single medical appointment. They want people in not out...
Greg ********
@Jay ****
They want more visitors in it is true. They want those visitors either working remotely or doing soft power activities.
