TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you need to file a TM30 report for your Burmese maid if she resides with you. This report must be submitted within 24 hours of her arrival at the address. Each foreigner is required to be reported to immigration, even if some officers may not enforce the rules strictly. It's important to understand that failing to report on time could result in fines, which the agent mentioned might be applicable when your maid goes for her visa extension after two years.

The confusion is not needed. Every foreigner has to be reported within 24 hours after arrival at an address in Thailand. That is it, now the confusion starts when not every Immigration Office will give you a fine for not doing this, or people do not care to pay a small fine for not doing it. Or like this agent, who claim just pay the fine when she goes for an Extension of Stay. You report within 24 hours or your pay a fine later, choice is yours.

I done that before actually. If the hotel requires a copy of the passport, they do the TM30 as well. Once you return back home, you fill out the TM30. Remember, you have 24 hours from the time you go to a residence to file the TM30.

if your sure they will do it + you won't have proof in the future, hotels don't give TM 30 receipts!!

maybe cheaper to go to a hotel where they complete a TM30 for you. Then go back to house and complete TM30 within 24 hours. No fine should be charged then.

Then yes, legally, you (or her) have to do a TM30.

What part of Thailand are you in? Different areas enforce TM30 differently and for different purposes.
