Do I need to file a new TM30 every time I return to my apartment after staying in a hotel in Thailand?

After entering Thailand as a DTVer, I filed a TM30. But later if I then travel to other cities (such as Chiang Mai) and stay in a hotel, do I need to file another TM30 when I return to my apartment after the trip?

Or do I need to re-file a new TM30 each time I stay in a hotel?

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, whether you need to file a new TM30 form upon returning to your apartment after staying in a hotel depends on the regulations set by your local Immigration Office. Generally, the obligation to file a TM30 falls on the landlord or hotel, who must report your stay every time you check-in to their premises, including for short stays. Some users report that if you return to your primary residence afterward, it may be necessary to have the landlord file a new TM30, while others suggest it isn't required if no changes to your residency status occur. It's advisable to check with your specific Immigration Office for clarity on their requirements regarding TM30 submissions.

My understanding is you don't have to get a new TM30 as long as you are staying in the same address when you leave the country n return.

You only need to file a new TM30 when you leave Thailand and come back in. The interpretation of the rules relaxed a little from a few years ago

How will immigration know where you returned after you did actually stay somewhere else and there was a TM30 filed for your stay. There is no option to specify a kind of default address.

It is office dependent.

Jomtien have changed their minds backwards and forwards a few times that I know. Wanted it, then chased away, wanted it after travel, chased away next time lol. At least in Chiang Mai I know 100% it is required after overseas travel. I need to check for domestic travel. Luckily I just message property agent when I return and she does it and sends me the acknowledgment.

In bangkok yes you need to

Yes you do, while in the hotels they will do it for you but when you return back to your normal place then you are required to do a new tm30

That’s what the immigration told me I had to do

In fact it is not up to you !

It is the obligation of the landlord / houseowner / hotel reception, to file the TM30, EVERYTIME a foreigner come staying at their premises.

The idea behind it, is that Immigration at any time know where any foreigner stay, so you also have to file it everytime you return to your own / girlfriend’s apartment / house.

It is not laborious to file the report, so be on the safe side and follow the law, when you return to your apartment.

in reality though, any consequences from not filing one correctly land at the feet of the visa holder.

Yet the tenent, hasn’t got the needed documents to do the TM30 themselves, they can only ask of a copy of the registration, to ensure it being done.

Asking for a copy, when checking in, is a good thing, then the landlord can make the copy simultaneously with the registration, and don’t have to search through papers to find it 2-3-4 weeks later when the tenant need it.

If you're registered on the website and doing your own TM30 it's probably easier to avoid any potential complications in the future by the doing it again. I think this is one of those things that vary from office to office.

Immigration office dependent. Some want you to file when you return home from even 1 night in a hotel, some when returning from overseas, some not at all. You need to ask your immigration office

and asking immigration just is more work than filing a TM30...

No you don't have to file when you travel inside Thailand
Siggi *******
No as you have your fixed address where you stay, it's clear that you are there and when you travel then the hotels put only your stay dates in and it's clear after this you are again at your address. Opposite all the people here I am living and working here 12+ years and for sure know more from personal experiences first hand about visas, tm30, vehicle registrations, tax aso bc I am handle this daily. Since DTV a lot of so called experts showing up and spreading lies without first hand experiences. But if you believe this you don't deserve better.

@Siggi ******
incorrect, Thai law states every new address requires a new filing.

After staying somewhere else you need new TM30. How do you think they could know you returned back to an address you have stayed before?

Each TM30 ends when the next one is filed, just use your brains and you would know it is necessary to file again.
Ray *****
Yes when you return to your main property get the landlord to file another TM30

This is another it depends on the Immigration Office. In Jomtien I never had to have TM30 resubmitted after any travel returning to same address. At least it never interfered with any immigration interactions such as 90 Day reporting. However, in Chiang Mai my international travel means a new TM30 needs reporting upon return. No idea as yet regarding domestic.

Yes, they (not you) must always file a TM-30 every time you check it at any hotel or accommodation, even if it's for one night only.
Elías ********
Oh well, I see this is not what you were asking for. In my case, when I did my 90 days report I just used the last TM-30 I had at hand.
