TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are staying at your girlfriend's house in Ubon, you do not need to book a hotel. However, your girlfriend must file a TM30 registration within 24 hours of your arrival at the local immigration office or online, assuming the house is registered for such an action. The TM30 is necessary to report a foreigner's stay in Thailand. While some commenters noted that they have not personally notified the village headman when staying with locals, it is generally advisable that the head of the household knows of your presence, especially in more rural areas.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

WARNING: Only trust Thai government websites with .go.th domains or Thai agent websites with .co.th or .in.th domains, as these require verified Thai registration and cannot be registered anonymously.

The official TDAC form is available at tdac.immigration.go.th, which uses the official .go.th government domain.

The services by AGENTS CO., LTD. does NOT charge any fees for arrivals within 72 hours. If you need to book more than 72 hours in advance, there is a service fee of $8.

Do not trust other sites pretending to be a trustworthy agency. Pay attention to delivery time - the service operated by AGENTS CO., LTD. has 1 minute delivery time for arrivals within 72 hours.

Don't fall for sites pretending to be agents.co.th or the official government tdac.immigration.go.th website. Always double-check the exact domain in your browser.

Scam services may take days to process your application, others may not even do anything. With these TDAC scam services you also need to worry about double charges.

Please watch out for TDAC misinformation spread by fugitive Jesse Nickles and his many fake accounts on Quora, TripAdvisor, Reddit, and other platforms.

Nothing else regarding the TDAC, but the owner of the house where you stay, has to do a TM30 registration at the local immigration office within 24 hours of your arrival.

You guys are harsh, its not Bangkok. Everything will be fine whether 1 day or 90 days. Easy enough to verify your address at reporting. If want to be safe of a small fine, report it in a month & tell them you just arrived. I lived Ubon 15+ years, all is easy.
Dwayne ********
No. Just report it next 90 day report. Ubon has a very lax immigration.
Will *****
@Dwayne *******
you have to report in the province your staying in not outside.

@Derek *********
this is the webpage of Immigration where your GF can register her house

@Derek *********
So, your girlfriend got the blue housebook She first has to register the house in the TM30 Online System. She will receive a login-ID and a password. She will be asked by the system to change the password.

After this is done, your girlfriend can report your arrival at her house in the TM30 online system - as having arrived at this accomodation.

You, the foreigner, usually don't register the house in the system by yourself, as you would need the blue housebook and the data it contains to do so.

However, if your girlfriend gives you the login-ID and the password, you can register every of your arrivals by yourself.

Instead of this proceedings, the two of you could also visit Immigration, together with her blue housebook and her Thai ID card and you with your passport, and register the TM30 directly at the Immigration office

She will need to lodge a TM 30 with the local immigration office within 24 hours of your arrival.

l live in a village in lsan. I on retirement visa and do my tm47 online and when we travel the tm30 is done by the hotels we stay at, when we return to the village we do the tm30 for our home address. It is not hard to do.
Rob **********
@Darin *******
exactly not hard to do at all, have been doing mine for decades, a very straightforward process indeed.

Do you have to register the house with immigration to be able to do this?
Stephen ********
@Max *******
yes, the house needs to be registered by the owner on the TM30 website first.
Max ********
@Stephen *******
Thank you, my wife owns the house but we have done a TM30 before on line but don’t know if the house is registered.

@Max *******

We had no problem getting a TM30 on line last year , printed it out and took it when I went for my extension of stay.

@Stephen *******
We built it new in 2019 and couldn’t get back until 2023 but to our knowledge it has never been registered unless it happened when we did the TM30

. . . you are dancing around the relevant processing . . . . . . . .the owner/keeper of the blue housebook first has to register the house in the TM30 Online System. He/she will receive a login-ID and a password. He/she will be asked by the system to change the password. After this is done, the owner/landlord/friend can register the visiting or renting foreigner in the TM30 online system as having arrived at this accomodation. The foreigner usually doesn't register the house in the system by himself, as he would need the blue housebook to do so, however if the owner of the house hands the foreigner the login-ID and the password, he can register every of his arrivals by himself . .
Nicholas *********
Why would they compel you to stay in a hotel
Will *****
@Nicholas ********
they don't what you talking about.

If the house is in a village she will have to inform the village headman

I am the only Farang in my village and I've been coming here for 6 years, up to 3 or 4 months at a time. I met the village headman about 4 years ago and never have I notified him of my arrival. He sees me around from time to time and always says sawasdee krab.
