Afternoon all.

If we are travelling on a 60+30 TR visa when can we apply for the extension ?

Could we apply shortly after arrival in Thailand or should we wait until closer to the 60 day date ?

Last time I think I waited a while before applying but I can’t remember if that is because the rules say I have to wait or because I didn’t do it until I actually had to 😀😀😀

Thanks for your advice.

Answer summary

If you are traveling on a 60+30 TR visa in Thailand, the timing for applying for an extension can vary depending on the immigration office. Generally, you can apply anywhere from 30 to 45 days before your current visa expires, but this can differ by location. It's recommended to check the specific rules of the immigration office you plan to visit, as some may allow you to apply as early as 45 days prior while others may restrict it to just 7 days before expiration.

Once they told me in Phuket that I’m too early and should come again. I said that i will be traveling and that korat immigration is a pain to find. They said ok, here’s your stamp lol

That’s going to be office dependent. Some allow 45 days prior, most 30 and a couple only 7. State which office you’d use and someone can advise.

Ok I don’t know that office’s policy. Perhaps others with direct experience can help. I suspect 30 days but very few posts on that office.

All depends where you stay and it's differnt from office to office, up north I could apply 45 days before some office 30 days. Yes you still get an total of 90 days just remember day 1 starts when you arrive
