When renewing your passport in Thailand, do you need to transfer the entry stamp to the new passport, or is it enough to show both the new and old passports when leaving the country?
Answer summary
When renewing your passport in Thailand, it is generally acceptable to show both your old and new passports when leaving the country. Most commenters recommend having both passports available, as this can help avoid complications, especially when interacting with immigration officers. Some individuals have noted that while transferring the entry stamp is not always necessary, it can be helpful for certain immigration-related processes.

I posted about this, search passport and it will come up
The only situation in which you need to transfer the entry stamp to your new passport is when you need something at an Immigration Office like 90 day reporting or residence certificate.
I took old and new passport to immigration when I was leaving Thailand. Explained to the IO. They took me around until they found a senior IO. They stamped out my new passport and wrote some stuff on the stamp. When entered I showed both passports, took a bit longer than normal, made me nervous, but was totally fine. You always have to arrive with both passports - which means I’ll leave with both. I haven’t left again since then, so not sure if they will need to check on way out.
We had to go to immigration and have the stamp transferred. We have also been asked to show the old passports even though it has been over a year since we transferred the stamp and we’ve exited/entered with the new ones. I recommend keeping them with you just in case.
