G'day

I intend to apply for a visa based on marriage to Thai national.

Two questions...

Do I apply for this visa from Australia ( or do I get another visa and apply within Thailand )

Will the medical insurance requirement apply to marriage visa?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking to apply for a Non-Immigrant O visa based on marriage to a Thai national. They are unsure whether to apply from Australia or within Thailand, and they question the necessity of medical insurance for this visa. Responses indicate that applicants can apply from Australia, receiving a 90-day stay upon arrival, and can later extend the stay for a year. Medical insurance is advisable but not mandatory for this type of visa.

you don't need health insurance to apply for a Non-O visa based on marriage, you can certainly get it if you want to (seeing as it's always a good idea) but it is not required.

Either way, you will not require health cover. Where will you apply in Australia. Some in Australia do not require to show banked money. Others in Australia do. In Thailand you would need to have 400,000 thb banked for at least 2 months before applying.

you can apply for the Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage with a Thai National in Australia and when you arrive in Thailand you get 90 days of stay, after 60 days you can apply for an 1 year Extension of Stay at your local Immigration office. As an medical insurance is always wise to have, it it not a requirement to get this type of visa or Extension
