A user in Savannakhet is seeking advice on whether Lao Kip can be used to pay the 2000 Baht fee for a Non-O visa application. The community replies confirm that only Thai Baht is accepted, suggesting different methods to exchange currency, such as asking hotels, checking local banks, or possibly exchanging with taxi drivers. Some users share locations for currency exchange and offer practical tips for finding open places despite previous attempts to locate an exchanger.

Go to this bank, exchange was open on a Sunday. It's downstairs in a little room, look for the sliding window. Reasonable rate

You didn't check the requirements before traveling there? They only accept Thai baht as stated on their website.

When I was there I needed local currency for the hotel, the taxi driver knew exactly where to go and actually got us a good exchange rate. Give it a try, they know all the best places

didn’t know I would have to search all day for a simple cash exchange shop without any taxis anywhere. Been walking for the past 4h ours under the sun, asking 15 people if they wanna bring me back to my hotel for some money 😅 this place is a shithole
