Do I need to cancel my marriage extension before applying for a Non-O visa for a Thai child?

Hello everyone,

I am on my first year extension of stay based on marriage which is due for renewal on 2nd April.

Due to some personal reasons I am contemplating to cancel my marriage extension and go to Savannakhet for a new non-immigrant category O visa based on Thai child.

My question is that do I need to cancel my existing extension by going to immigration or just leaving Thailand without re-entry permit will do it? If I choose the latter route would I have any issues in getting another non-O based on child, in Savannakhet?

No need to cancel it, you can exit without a re-entry permit and it'll be fine

You can only get a 90 day single entry Non-O at the thai consulate in Savannakhet based on thai child. They do not issue year/multi Non-O's for that reason.

You could change the reason for your current extension from marriage to a thai to raising thai child That can be done in country at your immigration office.
