Hello everyone,
I am on my first year extension of stay based on marriage which is due for renewal on 2nd April.
Due to some personal reasons I am contemplating to cancel my marriage extension and go to Savannakhet for a new non-immigrant category O visa based on Thai child.
My question is that do I need to cancel my existing extension by going to immigration or just leaving Thailand without re-entry permit will do it? If I choose the latter route would I have any issues in getting another non-O based on child, in Savannakhet?
Thanks,
TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is considering switching from a marriage extension to a non-immigrant category O visa based on having a Thai child. They asked whether they should cancel their existing extension or if leaving Thailand without a re-entry permit is sufficient. Responses indicated that exiting without a re-entry permit is acceptable, and that one can get a 90-day single-entry Non-O visa in Savannakhet based on a Thai child, although it does not allow for longer extensions.
