I entered Thailand on an ED visa and was given 90days before I need to go to immigration to extend. If I plan to leave Thailand for an extended period of time(months or years) do I need to cancel the ED visa with immigration before I leave or will it just naturally expire without issue?
Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
When holding an ED visa in Thailand, if you plan to leave the country for an extended period (months or years), you do not need to formally cancel your visa with immigration. You can stay for the initial 90 days given by your visa stamp and are free to leave before that period expires. The visa will automatically cancel upon your departure from Thailand.

If you're not going to get the extension you can stay the 90 days the initial stamp gave you and leave when you want (obviously before that stamp runs out), It'll 'cancel' when you leave the country.
