How do I fill out the customs form regarding my stay duration if I'm entering Thailand on a tourist visa and plan to apply for an ED visa?

I’m coming into the country on sept4, I’m only coming in on 30 tourist and will extend another 30 at immigration. So when I’m filling out customs form how long do I say I’m coming for? We want to apply for ED visa in that time?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When filling out the customs form for your entry into Thailand, it's advisable to state that your stay is for 30 days, which is the duration granted upon entry on a tourist visa. Make sure you have a booking for an onward flight within that period to avoid questions. Note that while you plan to extend your stay, the immigration officials typically do not consider your future plans when processing the initial entry.

Put down 30 days because that's all you can get stamped in for entering the country without a valid visa in your passport.

They don't care if you're going to get a 30 day extension and they don't care if you're going to apply for an ED visa or not.

To be completely honest they don't care at all what you put on that form.

The arrival card is quite possibly the least significant form you will ever complete in Thailand. There isn't even a section that asks how long you're staying for.

The new TM.6 form has it. This isn't the best image but you can see it

I can’t see it.

There is a 'length of stay' box to fill in.

I will never understand why people are so averse to simply getting a simple tourist visa when they want to visit thailand as a tourist! All this bobbing and weaving all to be able to say I don't need a visa is incredible

You will spend a lot of time at the immigration office. Have fun! :D

why not just get yourself a single entry tourist visa and make your life a lot simpler.

To avoid unnecessary questions the answer should be 30 days, but you should also have a booking for an onward flight within that period.
