Hello, I have a question about ED visas (Education visa). My university is providing a one entry education visa for September for 6 months. I need to leave the country in December (3 months after) but being a one entry visa how does it work? Can I pay a reentry fee and keep the same visa? Does the month that I am away will be discounted from 6 months visa or the visa freezes when I leave?

Thank you very much!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around the workings of a one-entry Education visa (ED visa) issued by a university in Thailand. The visa is valid for six months, but the individual plans to leave the country three months into that period. The main inquiry is whether a re-entry permit can be purchased to retain the visa status upon returning and how the time spent outside the country affects the remaining duration of the six-month visa.

Fisrt off all, your University is only providing documents to apply for a visa or extension of stay at the Immigration Office.

You get OR a Non Immigrant ED visa which gives you 90 days of stay OR an

Extension of Stay depending on course length with maximum 1 year, what ever comes first.

If you like to leave during this issued stay, you buy a re-entry permit at the Immigration Office or last moment on some International airports. This re-entry permit is valid until and will give you the same date as mentioned in your passport as permitted until xx/xx/xx
