Good day all knowing admins 😊.

I am currently on my extension of stay on my ed visa expiring 31 july. I am attending a government university and went to the office that does visa staff in my uni and the person in charge told me I DONT need to leave the country to get a new visa but am just able to get a secound 1 year extension i asked repeatedly if they where sure but they assured me or tryed to giving me the reason that students attending government university can keep applying for extentions of stay it just sounds to good to be true any of you ever hear of this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on an extension of stay for their ED visa, which expires on July 31. They were informed by their university's visa staff that they could apply for a second one-year extension without having to leave Thailand. This raised questions about the validity of information, which was affirmed by another user who confirmed that students at government universities can indeed apply for multiple extensions of stay, provided the initial visa was legitimate and documentation is in order.

Our uni is 80% attendance to maintain.

BUT
@Jor***
, if you drop classes or fall below the credit hours you need after you get the yearly extension, the uni usually contacts the immigration office and cancels your extension of stay right then.

@Jor***
, The university gives you a document to submit to the immigration office listing the credit hours you're taking and showing that the tuition is paid up for the year.

when going through ed visa for uni do you need proof of funding?

The information you were given is correct, IF you had an ED visa for attending a real university (NOT a private school) when you got your extension they should have given you a year. AND you can apply for another yearly extension of stay at the immigration office using the documentation from your university for another 1900baht.

I know people enrolled in a Masters degree program here and they've pulled 2 years worth of extensions in country.
