Hi there. How does one cancel an education visa? What are the processes and procedures to follow? Thanks
Answer summary
To cancel an education visa in Thailand, the process varies depending on whether it's a Single Entry Non Immigrant ED visa. If on the initial 90 days, leaving the country cancels the visa automatically. However, if an extension of stay has been granted, a letter from the school stating the end date of studies is required, and this should be presented at the Immigration Office along with the passport to complete the cancellation process.

Thank you so much Robert. Another question/clarification: yes it is actually on an extension of stay. We need to cancel because my husband will apply for another visa - non-o based on being my dependent but when coming back he will still like to continue taking classes. Does the letter need to state the same (i.e. stopping studying even if he will continue)?
Yes, the letter states the same for Immigration to cancel the Extension of Stay and the school can use the last day 5th to cancel it. If you leave on the 6th this means he is in overstay and yes, you need to cancel the Extension of Stay as you agreed when you applied for it.
if it is a Single Entry Non Immigrant ED visa and you are on the initial 90 days you got on entry, it will cancel by just leaving the country. BUT if you already visited the Immigration Office and got a new stamp with in the second line Extension of Stay is permitted up to ../../.. you have to ask the school for a letter with the date you stop studying and with that letter and your passport visit the Immigration Office to cancel this Extension of Stay.
