TLDR : Answer Summary
If you hold an education visa (ED visa) for Thailand and plan to return to America, you generally do not need to cancel your visa before departure if you are leaving on the original entry. However, if you have obtained an extension of stay, it is advisable to cancel it at the immigration office prior to departure, using documents provided by your educational institution.

Are you on the original ED visa entry or have you went to the immigration office and gotten an extension of stay for 1900baht already?
As a rule if you are on the original entry of the ED visa when you leave it's canceled. However if you are on an extension of stay you should go and get it canceled at the immigration office before you fly out using documents provided by your school.
