I have a OA visa which expired on 14 Jan, i am now on the entry stamp until 10 October, i intend to leave Thailand to Australia in June, while in Aus i will obtain a new passport as my current one expires same day as my enter to stamp 10 October, i know i need a reentry permit before departing if i intend to come back on the original entry stamp. The question is while i am in Aus if i reapply for a new OA Visa, do i have to cancel the current rentry stamp.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you hold a current entry stamp and plan to apply for a new OA visa while in Australia after obtaining a new passport, you do not need to cancel your original entry stamp. You can apply for the new OA visa using your new passport and enter Thailand with that new visa.

nope, just get a new passport, apply for the NEW O-A visa while in Australia on your NEW passport and then just fly in on that passport with only that visa in it.

yes, i think it helps that i have an Australian bank account and can state a friends address as my forwarding address and of course the police clearence and medical is done in Australia. It certainly keeps the cost down flying to Perth to do all that.

WOW!! Good on you for being able to get it there, most people have to use a thai consulate in country of passport origin to get O-A visas.

, thanks i think all round that will be the way forward for me, aprox every two years go and get a new OA visa. Interesting point for some to note i have a New Zealand passport but i know i can obtain a OA visa at the Thai Embassy in Canberra, Australia as this is what i did originally.
