Do I need a re-entry permit for my O-A visa when traveling to Australia?

ORIGINAL POSTER" I'm here on an O-A " retirement " visa and I need to step out of Thailand and return so as to secure my 2nd year."
Further to my earlier post. I am flying to Australia December 14th and returning to Thailand January 18th. Unfortunately, when I booked my airline ticket, I was not looking at the correct dates. My O-A visa states valid until 6 January 2020 however the " admitted until " stamp reads 20th January 2020. You can see where I went wrong.
My question is this. If I fly down to KL on December 13th then fly back into Thailand December 13th, I am assuming I will be stamped back in until 12 December 2020, however....
December 14 I depart Thailand for Australia, returning January 18th. I am thinking I will need to get a re-entry permit at Phuket Airport before I depart for Australia on December 14th?
