Hello I have a one year OA multiple entry visa. I will leave Thailand end of may, returning in September. Is there anything I should do before leaving ? Like going to the immigration to get a reentry permit ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have a one-year OA multiple entry visa and plan to leave Thailand, you generally do not need to do anything before leaving as long as your visa sticker is valid past your return date, which is before October 14. Upon reentering Thailand before the visa expiration, you will be stamped in for another 12 months. It's important to ensure you have health insurance that covers you for the full duration after reentry, and also check any entry requirements from the Thai government prior to your return.

As an update I chatted with the OP...

Thankfully he has a one year policy from ACS and LMG which together meets the requirements of the OA visa and entry and reentry into Thailand.

He will extend it after he reenters for one added year and take proof of the LMG policy extended one full year to Thai Immigration to update/extend his permission to stay date to match his arrival date plus one year.

As a relevant aside, you will be stamped in until the expiration date of your compulsory health insurance, to a maximum of 1 year. (That’s not the additional Covid insurance currently required, but the health insurance coverage for minimum of

outpatient.

the extra Covid19 insurance must take him as far as the compulsory insurance - for 365 days counting from the date of re-entry

there is a solution... It all depends on the insurance he used to enter Thailand when he got his OA visa.

I will discuss with him his options... As it is varied and needs thought out for his benefit.

When an O-A Visa holder exits Thailand within the first year and then reenters Thailand the O-A Visa is automatically stamped in for 12 more months. This has nothing to do with an Extension of Stay... different kind of deal.

yes you will require a health insurance for the full 365 days you will receive upon re-entry

, so as others' comment, check your visa sticker AND your current entry stamp (permitted until stamp).

IF valid date of the VISA STICKER is later than September, you just leave and come back (regarding to visa-matter). But if your valid until date on VISA STICKER is before September and permitted until date of your current entry stamp is later than that, you can get re-entry stamp BEFORE you leave, and you will be stamped until same date to current stamp upon entry in September.

Be careful not mix those dates.

Al long as you enter Thailand before Oct 14 (after leaving Thailand without re-entry permit), you will be stamped for 365days , until September 2022.

thanks ! My visa is until oct 14 and the stamp until nov 6. If I do nothing before leaving, come back beginning of September, can I stay then until oct 14 or nov 6 ?

Are you in the first year of the OA visa?

If so you have a multiple entry visa.

But will need to meet the entry requirements of the Thai Embassy... Obtaining permission to enter, insurance and quarantine too.

@James *******
yes I am ! It means I don’t need to do anything before leaving Thailand ?

As long as you return by the "valid to" date on your visa, there's nothing you need to do (besides getting a CoE and any other prices the Thai government may want you to do before entry is allowed, of course).

correct. Make sure it is in this first year of the OA visa. When you seek to reenter.
