Hi! I have a non-immigrant o visa based in Mae Hong Son. If I want to extend (not the 90 day check in but the 90 day extension) do I have to be physically present at the immigration office?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you must be physically present at the Thai immigration office in Mae Hong Son to apply for an extension of your Non-Immigrant O visa. While there has been some confusion regarding the type of extension, it is confirmed that a 90-day extension can be applied for under certain conditions, such as volunteering with an organization that can support the application.

Totally common for some organizations and foundations to get extensions for their volunteers for 90 days at a time. There is nothing untoward about it in the least.

BUT

As people pointed out you need to get the extension from the immigration office that serves the area where the foundation is, which unless I mis-read is up in Mae Hong Son..

There is no 90days extension for Non-O unless you are doing volunteer with short term contract and the organization can support the procedure..

, You need to be at the immigration office in person when you apply for an extension with the required documents prepared by your organization.

What do you mean with a 90 day Extension of Stay based on an Non Immigrant O visa?

I get confused as the Extension of Stay is normally 1 year.

I'm a volunteer here and am planning on extending with my org and they do them in 90 day segments

I'm not here to guess or assume, that is why I asked what the person ment.

It is about a Non Immigrant O visa and not about the Non Immigrant ED visa as you mention.

Yes...you must be physically present to make application for an extension at the Thai immigration office where you live and have registered your TM30 home address.

Thanks, I figured this was the case but was hoping for a workaround. Thanks for your response!
