Can I successfully navigate my visa plans upon arrival in Thailand with a 30-day visa exempt?

Hello, so my plan is to arrive from the USA next November to Thailand and stay for five months.

I’d like to use the visa exempt (30) days and immediately apply for a one month extension. I’d prefer not to do the 60 day tourist visa.

And quickly apply for the 90 day non- o immigrant visa. I have 800 k in a seasoned account. Then near expiration of the non-o visa apply for a one year extension of stay based on retirement, and over 50.

So my question is, will I have time to do this with the visa exempt?

TLDR : Answer Summary

I did exactly that (using the banked funds method deposited on 17 Oct.) arriving in THA 30 Oct with a 30 day visa exempt stamp and a subsequent 30 day extension of stay. If you funded your account using a single bank to bank wire (vs. multiple Wise transfers), you will have an easier go. I would also advise using your first 30 days getting your permanent address nailed down and getting your TM30 buttoned up. Good luck.

p. s., I'm in Bangkok and did everything at TT/CW

Possible one of the keys in that schedule might be getting a long-term contract and TM30 for your accommodation if you don't have a place to live already.

It sounds really tight. Why not get the 60 day tourist visa that allows you one extension of 30 days ? This buys you more time.

he did say that he has the 800K baht already in an account (and even seasoned although that is no required for the initial 90 day Non-O visa application)

He should be able to pull it off in the 60 days he can get in total with a visa exempt entry

The answer to that question is how fast can you get your shit together 😮 get the bank letter, get the documents you need and go apply for the initial 90 day Non-O visa?

MOST immigration offices require a minimum of 15 days left on your current stamp to apply for an in country Non-Immigrant type visa <- because it goes under review for 14 days and then you go back to get the Non-O and new 90 day stamp inked in. BUT some offices require a minimum of 21 days to do it 😕

Now you can get a 30 day extension on that 30 day visa exempt entry IF you need to so you can 'buy time' to get everything.

I'd say you SHOULD be able to pull it off from a 30 day visa exempt entry plus a 30 day extension if you need it.

ok, first sorry for delay, my true internet ran out right after the question. I went to immigration today and trying to extend my 60 day tourist visa another month and they told me to wait three days before it expires.

So I would have to wait for the 30 day exempt to almost expire and get the month extension and then apply for the non-o.

Sounds doable.

they require 15 days left on the stamp to get a non-Imm visa right?
