Do I need to be in Sweden to apply for a DTV visa if I'm currently in Spain?

Hello, I am a Swedish citizen and I am applying for DTV. I received a request to submit a description of how I do my work online. I wrote a letter where I told them that I have a remote office and that at the moment I am working on my holiday in Spain, and what I do for my clients. After I submitted I got a little worried. Do I have to be in Sweden to get this visa issued? Or is the main thing that I am not in Thailand when I apply?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a Swedish citizen, is concerned about their DTV visa application after submitting a description of their remote work while currently on holiday in Spain. They are uncertain if being in Spain affects their application, particularly whether they need to be in Sweden for it to be issued. Commenters suggest that application location may impact approval, and highlight considerations regarding jurisdictions and the implications of their current status.

So you're saying when you went to the eVisa website logged in, and selected the country your passport is from you selected Sweden and then when you selected your your CURRENT LOCATION you selected Sweden even though you're currently in Spain? <- Do you see anything wrong with this picture? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Had you selected you were IN Spain it would have routed the eVisa requirement thru the thai consulate in Madrid, as you can see from this screen grab NOT the one in Stolkholm.

The application will either go thru, or it won't ๐Ÿ˜• IF they reject it (a possibility) you lose the application fee ๐Ÿ™

Seeing as you already submitted the application and paid, there's not much you can do about it now.

Sincerely good luck with it, report back and let us know if you get the DTV approved

Anonymous participant then email them the documents,

Then you met the requirement when you applied for the visa (you were where you said)

all you can do is send in the required extra documentation and wait for the approval or rejection. I would imagine the application will go thru and be approved if you send the additional required documentation

Not any way to cancel the process now ๐Ÿ™

It depends. When submitting the application, they ask you where are you currently located, and you choose. Did you choose Sweden? In theory, if you were at Sweden at that time... it should be OK. But if you were already in Spain, and you're telling it yourself, your application MIGHT be rejected, due to not being on a place under their jurisdiction. Personally, I'd think they'll be more permissive if it's about UE citizens within UE countries, but that's just my opinion.

If youโ€™re currently in Spain then applying Sweden wouldnโ€™t have been plausible unless they expressively told you itโ€™s ok. If that becomes a point of contention reply back you were in Sweden at the time you lodged the application and flew to Spain the next day for holiday.

yes, this is a good idea. But it must be true, as they could ask for a record of entry/exit or passport stamp/slip to verify.
