This maybe a question that’s already been answered but I was wondering if it’s possible to book a month in Thailand and if I wanted to extend my stay a further 2/3 weeks would I need to get a tourist visa or be able to visit the Thai embassy in Thailand to extend? Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to book a month in Thailand and extend your stay for an additional 2-3 weeks. Most passport holders can obtain a one-time 30-day extension at a local immigration office if they initially entered on a visa exemption. Alternatively, getting a 60-day tourist visa before arrival can be cheaper and more convenient, as it allows for a longer stay without the need for extensions. Remember, there are no Thai embassies in Thailand, so extensions must be handled through immigration offices.

Visiting a Thai embassy in Thailand will not work. They are everywhere but here.

You could get a tourist visa upfront. If your country qualifies for e-visas, this will be easier. It is also cheaper than an extension. But if you are not yet sure about the 2-3 extra weeks, you may prefer to use exemption. You do indeed have the option to extend your stay.

When going to Thailand for 31 - 60 ( 90 )days, the 60 days touristvisa is the best option.

It is cheaper than visa excempt + 30 days extension.

No need of a onward ticket ( 90 days 1 onward ), if returnticket within 60 days.

It is easier to apply from the comfort of your home.

Not wasting holiday time to find, go to and waiting at a immigration office ( 90 you would need that ).

Then no need to leave Thailand in up to 90 days.

you are entitled to 30 days visa exemption upon arrival which can be extended with 30 days at your local immigration where you stay in Thailand.

Depends somewhat on your passport nationality but most can get a one time 30 day extension at a local immigration office. There is no Thai Embassy in Thailand.
