Will I automatically get a 30-day extension when re-entering Thailand on a multi-entry tourist visa?

Hi guys, I’ve bit of an ignorant question for you experts 😇

I’m here on a 60 day tourist evisa with multiple entry. It expires on 26.12.

I wish to fly to Laos this weekend, then fly back to Thailand a few days later.

I’ve a clean normal tourist passport not multiple stamped etc.

When I arrive back at BKK immigration to be stamped back in will they automatically extend my stay by 30 days ( the maximum) or do I need to negotiate this at that point?

Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

TLDR : Answer Summary
The questioner is currently in Thailand on a 60-day tourist eVisa with multiple entries, expiring on December 26, and plans to travel to Laos and return shortly after. They are inquiring whether they will automatically receive a 30-day extension when they go through immigration upon returning to Thailand, or if they need to negotiate this at the time. Comments suggest that upon each re-entry, they will typically receive a 60-day stay as long as their multi-entry visa is valid, and they can later apply for a 30-day extension at a local immigration office.

Listen mate, where you from? Do not listen to people who have never done it because they are clueless, they are making it up. I have just returned to Thailand (Bangkok airport) from Vietnam on a multi entry evisa. I was in Thailand for 58 days before Vietnam. I got another 60 days. A couple of questions, no problem. I have been here on multi entry evisas for over 6 months this year (2025) (3 entries). So don't listen to the know nothings. Just book your hotel and a return flight and be prepared. Now after giving you some real experienced advice. Let's see how may fu** *it's copy or even better shut up 🤔🙏. Don't worry, and put it to the back of your mind. Reading all the worst on here does not help people's mindset.

An METV multiple entry tourist visa, is valid for 6 months from date of issue, typically this visa can only be bought in your home country. As others have said upon each entry you'll be stamped in for 60 days and each entry is eligible for a 30-day extension at your local immigration office. It's hard to believe that your Visa will expire in a few weeks because it's a 6-month validity Visa. Look carefully at the Visa email you received it will have the issue date and the valid until date 6 months later.

What is the date your visa is valid until if it is indeed a multi entry tourist visa?

Does your eVisa expire on 26-Dec or is it your current permitted to stay date stamped in your passport? I assume it is your permitted to stay date so what date does your actual 6 month METV expire?

If your tourist visa is multi entry then it is a 6 month multi entry visa. When you re-enter before the visa expires you will be stamped back in for 60 days.

yes this is correct, it’s 6 months.

I stupidly omitted than for some reason on me initial thread!

My passport stamp upon entry is 60days ..

Basically 26.12,25.

So I guess I need to go to immigration to extend the passport stamp again?

Can I do this multiple times until the 6 month visa expires would be my last question?

You can do this multiple times until the visa expires, however you said it expires on the

with the METV you get stamped in for 60 days each time you enter. Each entry can be extended one time for 30 days which gives you 90 days. 90 days is the maximum you can stay each visit. That can be done multiple times within the validity of the visa.

You don’t extend a tourist visa entry at an airport. You do that at a local immigration office.

You’ll get stamped in for 60 days and then you can apply for an extension at an immigration office. Some allow you to do so with 45 days left on your stamp. Most 30 but some only allow 7 days. Without knowing what office you’d use we can’t advise.

If you haven’t been to Thailand more than twice in the last 6 months , you shouldn’t have any worry .

Carry some cash 700USD

And have hotel booked & an onward departure ticket
