Hi all. Im on a retirement visa. Do i need a re-entry permit if leaving the country?
Also, can i get a re-entry permit from a different province than the one I am registered in? I.e. if my visa is from Bangkok can I get one from Chiang Mai immigration?
(I realise you can get at the airport but I'm planning on a border crossing trip).

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are on a retirement visa in Thailand, you generally need a re-entry permit when leaving the country, unless it's the first year of a multiple entry NON-O visa. You can obtain a re-entry permit from immigration offices in different provinces, such as getting one in Chiang Mai even if your visa is registered in Bangkok. Additionally, re-entry permits can also be acquired at the airport.

Unless you are on the first year of a multiple entry Non OA then yes you will need a re-entry permit.
Most offices should allow a re-entry permit bought in a different province, although with 80 or so offices and each having their own interpretation of the rules that’s not a guarantee.
