Hi all, I'm going to live & sort retirement visa in January with re entry permit so I can come back to UK for a while to visit family but can someone advise on how long re entry permit lasts ?? Thank in advance

cheers, so if I get retirement visa in January & I get15 months stamp, in affect my stamp runs out in March 2024, I plan to stay in Thailand till about June or July & come back to UK for a couple of months ill be ok ?

You don't get a 15-month stamp. You get 90 days, which you can then extend (at immigration) for 12 months. So if you leave within the 90-day period, you have to be back before the expiry date, otherwise you start over with another 90-days

So there is no limit on leaving Thailand on a re entry & re entering as long as your back to renew your retirement visa ?

you'd need a new re-entry permit every time you left, or you'd want to purchase a multiple re-entry permit. But once you have that there's no limitation on coming and going as long as you're back before the the of your extension to apply for the next one. And even then if you don't return in time you can just start over by applying for a new 90 day non-O visa.

I know but AO 3 months the 12 month retirement visa 12 months works out to 15 months

Paul Callaghan there's no such thing as a 15 month stamp. There's a 90 non-O plus a 12 month extension. They're separate. You would only want to buy the re-entry permit once you have the full 1 year extension. After that you can leave Thailand until the day before your extension expires if you want, though that wouldn't leave much time to do your next extension.

A re-entry permit lasts until the end of the stamp you got it for. It does not add any time to your visa or extension. But if you leave Thailand without the re-entry permit, your stay becomes invalid the moment you stamp out of Thailand.

Beware that getting a retirement extension is a multi-step process and it's not something you're going to be able to do in a week then head back to the UK.

You either need to apply for the non-O before coming to Thailand or you need to convert to the non-O when you are in Thailand.

Then you need to wait for 2 months for your money to be in the bank for 60 days before you apply for your 1-year extension. So at the minimum it's going to take you 2 months, longer if you need to setup a bank account once you arrive.
