Do I need a departure ticket after obtaining a DTV visa and what are the TM30 and TM90 requirements for stay in Thailand?

I’d like to ask everyone:

1. After getting a DTV visa, will immigration officers or airline staff ask me to show a departure ticket?

2. If I stay longer than 30 or 90 days, do I need to apply for TM30 or TM90 at the Thai immigration office?

Thank you! Wishing everyone a smooth trip to Thailand or a hassle-free visa application process.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion addresses two main questions regarding a DTV visa. Firstly, it clarifies that immigration officers typically do not require a departure ticket, but airline staff may request one. If asked, DTV holders should explain their visa allows for a 180-day stay and show their visa documentation if needed. Secondly, the TM30 form must be filed by the place of accommodation within 24 hours of arrival, and a TM47 (not TM90) report is necessary for stays exceeding 90 consecutive days.

If the airline requests to see a ticket out, simply explain that DTV holders are stamped in for 180 days and it's not necessary. Show your printed out Visa and direct their attention to the 5 year validity. Stand your ground.

TM30 is nothing to do with 30 days. It’s an immigration requirement to report the presence of a non Thai individual staying at a property and should be done within 24 hours of their arrival.

90 day report is a TM47

TM is an anglicisation of the Thai initials ตม. Which is an abbreviation of the name of the RTP immigration bureau.

(ตรวจคนเข้าเมือง)They are the numbers of the forms used to file those reports. They do not correspond to numbers of days.

The place you will stay should do the TM30. You need to do a 90 day report if you are inside Thailand for 90 consecutive days

so it means that TM30 will completed by landlord/hotel, and TM47 (stay for over 90days) needs to applied by ourselves ?

Thank you.

Thank You for your helpful report 👍

Congratulations 👏👏👏

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

Immigration officers won't ask for a departure ticket but airline stuff could. You can choose to argue or explain to them that you don't need one or, do like I do, just book a cheap refundable ticket.

1) You do not need one so they should not 2) TM30 should be lodged within 24 hours of arrival. If you stay 90 consecutive days you need to do a 90 day report. PS: The 90 day report is TM47 not TM90

Anonymous participant It's the responsibility of the landlord to file, so ask them.

Anonymous participant It is the responsibility of the landlord or the hotel etc. I make it part of my rental agreement the agent does it. More and more landlords ask their agents to do it these days too.
