TLDR : Answer Summary
Extending a 30-day Tourist Visa in Thailand for another 30 days is generally considered easy, with some users reporting minimal issues during the process. Generally, demonstrating travel insurance is not a requirement for the extension. While some individuals recommend having insurance ready, they mention it wasn't requested when they applied for an extension. It's also noted that having a stable living arrangement, such as staying in a registered hotel, can facilitate the process.

I rented from a weird owner once. And of course he didn’t register me within the time he needed to. So when they asked which hotel i live i said that i rent. They wanted to see the tabien ban. All i had was a receipt of my rent payment. I think they just didn’t want to do much work, so they stamped the extension. It’s definitely easier when you live in a hotel. But 3 months hotel in Phuket would be crazy

I renewed my insurance before getting the extension, as I thought it made no sense for them to not ask for it. They didn’t ask for it.

No need to show insurance, yes very easy

Generally yes, I would think during these times they will need to see your insurance before extending you

Contrary to others I go late afternoon and get in and out pretty quick.

i thought you only needed insurance for your initial 30 day stay

I always thought the entire purpose of the insurance was in case you get real sick while here. I guess it's in case you tested negative before flying then test positive when you land.

i agree with you...most of the time we don't choose the moment we fall ill. In these times, i would play it safe and have a valid insurance for the duration of the stay.

that's news to me, I guess I wasted money then. And it would make no sense but then again this is Thailand, chances of you getting sick within 1st few weeks are lower than catching covid and getting sick later on in your trip
