One more quick one about 30 Tourist Extension. Do you need the COVID insurance, I don’t think so from what I read. Second, the extension is good from your last 30 day or from the day you extend?

Thanks in advance πŸ™πŸΌ Stay Safe

TLDR : Answer Summary
You do not need COVID-19 insurance to apply for a 30-day tourist visa extension in Thailand. However, it is recommended to obtain some form of COVID-19 insurance. The extension is typically granted based on the existing stamp's validity, adding to the current expiration date.

In summary...

***No proof of health insurance needed.

***Get tourist visa extensions one or two days before your current end date...its added on. You do not lose any days.

How many days before is currently the best time to go for first ordinary tourist xtn. Mine visa valid until April 16th

right now because of all the people at the immigration offices they are saying go when you have a few days left on your current stamp SO if your ENTRY STAMP is valid until the 16th go around the 14th or so.

My advice is:

1. Try and catch the next flight out of Thailand if possible. This *IS NOT* the time to be in Thailand.

2. It depends on the immigration office, but in my opinion, you should go about 2 or 3 days before the date it expires.

Thanks! πŸ‘ And the extension is from you last 30th day not the day you apply?

The extension of stay based on the COVID-19 virus is UP TO 30 days, which is added on to the depart by date of your existing stamp.

Most offices are telling people to come back for their unable to travel due to covid-19 emergency extension (with the embassy letter) when you have just a few days left on your current extension

You do not need COVID-19 insurance to get an extension of stay based on being a tourist. However, I highly recommend getting any type of COVID-19 insurance that you can afford. Some banks and cell phone companies were selling it.

It may well be asked for soon enough if there's foreigners admitted into ICU that don't have sufficient travel insurance.

Haven't seen any request for it on any list of requirements for the extensions yet?

Only for entry into Thailand.
