TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning a visa run to Had Lek while on a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) and inquires whether they can return to Thailand the same day. Responses indicate that recent Thai immigration rules may require staying overnight in Cambodia, as experienced by a commenter. However, there are differing opinions, with some suggesting it's not necessary to stay the night. Overall, participants in the thread encourage caution and preparation regarding visa requirements.

a friend was last week there and he was forced to spend one night in Cambodia before coming back to Thailand once again. Rules coming from the Thai immigration btw, not from the Cambodian one, as far as I understood.

NO, Thailand does NOT have a rule that you need to stay minimum 1 night outside Thailand before you can come back. The rule that you can not leave Cambodia directly after you entered Cambodia is NOT made by the Royal Thai Police Immigration Bureau.

I'm guessing a border hop to get another 60 day entry, right?
