TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is unsure if they need to spend a night in Poipet for a visa run to extend their 60-day tourist visa by 30 days. The comments clarify that visa extensions should be done at a local immigration office, not at the border, and caution against going to Poipet for this purpose due to potential denial of entry.

An extension is done at immigration, not at a border.

If you're trying to do a border bounce, do not go to Poipet. They deny entry to many people every day trying to do this.

If all you want is a 30 day extension on an existing 60 day tourist visa just go to the immigration office that serves where you live

yes I believe you do. But a word of caution, Poipet is probably the most difficult border in all of Thailand, I'd seriously recommend you use another border crossing
