Hi everybody, my friend yesterday went to Hat Lek for a border run, but him can't come back the same day, because Thai Immigration sayed that new rules from january 2020, all border runners need to sleep in Cambodia 1 night ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Is that true?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The recent changes in rules at Thai immigration regarding border runs to Cambodia have caused confusion. While it is reportedly not an official rule enforced by Thailand, many border crossings, particularly at Poi Pet, are now requiring travelers to stay one night in Cambodia before re-entering Thailand. Some discussions also note that certain borders like Chong Sa Gnam may charge fees for same-day returns, while others like those to Laos do not impose such restrictions.

Chong sa gnam boarder charge 300 baht if coming back the same minute, but if you have short rest at the casino and come back the same day they dont charge anything ;-)

okay, believe it or not that's been the rule when getting a visa on arrival to Cambodia for years now. it's just only randomly enforced at the borders.

Aranyaprathet - Poi Pet is hard about it,

Obviously so is the border there.

Thanks for the update. Do you know if this border crossing can be used if you want to enter Thailand with a multiple entry tourist visa?

I think that's a rule on the Cambodia side. I know Poi Pet enforced it, and I can't help but wonder if other crossings are now enforcing it too

Its best to avoid Cambodia for border runs. It is NOT a rule...but it does appear several land border crossings into Cambodia are requiring one night stay before returning.

I was there on day 29 december, one border run in Cambodia this year, and two border run in Cambodia last year. In the side of t

Cambogia they sayed me that if I want to go back Thailand same day, I have to pay more, because Cambodia is glad that you stay at least one night. Payed, go back.
