Hello everyone, my friend using DTV visa and at the moment found employer inside of country. Did anyone change(transfer) visa from DTV to NON-B? Do you know how to cancel DTV? Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Answer summary
A user inquired about transferring a DTV visa to a NON-B visa after finding employment in Thailand. Responses suggest that while it's theoretically possible to convert a DTV to a NON-B visa at an immigration office, the process may be complicated due to the need for extensive documentation from the employer. They may prefer to handle the process outside Thailand, necessitating the cancellation of the DTV visa, which might require assistance from the original consulate that issued it. Additionally, there are concerns about the tight timelines for obtaining necessary documentation for the visa extension.

agree with John. But be aware, that if your employer can not provide the documents for the visa in country and you go abroad.
The visa gives you a 90 days stay, and before that ends the employer needs to provide even more documents to apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay.
Theoretically he should be able to visit the immigration office that serves his location and ask to convert the DTV to a Non-B. But he would need to satisfy all the criteria for the Non-B visa and his potential employer may not want to provide the extensive paperwork required for an in country Non-B application, they may want him to apply outside Thailand as the paperwork required is much less. If that's the case he would have to find a way to cancel his DTV which is not easy but the consulate that issued it might be willing to help
