What is the process for canceling an ED visa and applying for a DTV visa in Thailand?

Anyone have experiencing canceling their ED visa (not extended- after 2/3 months) and applying for DTV after?

Context: I want to leave Thailand for a few weeks to see family but am worried about having trouble upon re entry it I stay on ED.

I cancelled my ED (i was here 8months with it, and before that almost 2years with TR and exempts) and went to my home country for 3months and during that period they launched the DTV and I applied and got it, in august

You can't cancel a visa only an extension

If it’s before ED expiration, you can ask school for visa cancellation docs and then ho to Immigration with that document for cancellation.

Generally if it’s expired, you don’t need to do anything.
