Hello members. I'm from India. My non B visa expires on 20th October. I still didn't apply for work permit as it delayed to get necessary documents (and I still didn't get one document). When I went to employment department to enquire about the process to get work permit, they said I have time till 15th October to apply for work permit. But one of my friends told me that I must go at least one week before the visa expires, to the immigration office to get re-entry stamp. Is it possible to get work permit before 20th October? Will it be going to be complicated? Or is it impossible to get work permit? Can anyone please clarify me? Thank you very much ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
A member from India is concerned about their expiring non-B visa on October 20th and the delay in obtaining the necessary documents for a work permit. The employment department indicated a deadline of October 15th for the work permit application and advised that the member visit the immigration office before the visa expiration for a re-entry stamp. Community comments suggest that applying for the work permit is necessary before seeking a visa extension, ensuring all documents are ready to avoid complications.

you aren't gonna get an extension without the work permit, that's just how it works. AND you need to be talking to your employer about where it is..

You can apply for visa extension even on the last day of your current visa but you must have work permit and other necessary documents.

Try to apply for work permit as soon as possible. If all documents are in order, it will take 2 to 3 working days. Once you get work permit, you can go for visa extension right away.

Just go back before a couple of days to be safe.

my all documents will be ready by tomorrow or Monday. And I'm ready to pay fine for over stay. Will the immigration allow me to wait till I get work permit? Will it put me in trouble?

Everything is possible but if you are sure documents wont finish on time then you dont wanna overstay and pay fine. So go back to India before visa expires and wait till the documents done .

If you're a teacher, considered your time sunk, and you won't get your documents

yes I'm a teacher. Do you mean it's impossible to get the work permit?

no work permit means no work can be done. Paid holiday, what else you want in life. Just relax, if the company can not make the documents on time, you leave the country on 20th October and get another visa to continue being tourist or find work.

he's not like that. He's helping me. But the delay is in other offices.

The problem is between your employer and you. You are not allowed to work without the Work Permit. You're employer got what he wants, staff working, he not care the needed documents and money to spent to get that in order for you

yes. Absolutely. Holidays. So no one is going to make documents for non B visa. More over It takes a lot of money to make a new visa. It's not that much easy for Indians to get visa. Thank you.
