Is that correct that you can do only 2 visa exempt entries in a calendar year? In the past I have done as many as 5 (Australian)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The current understanding is that you can only do two visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year, but there is technically no limit on visa exempt entries by air. This means that while travelers may face restrictions on land entries, they can potentially re-enter Thailand multiple times by flying in, particularly if they make short trips to neighboring countries.

If I may add to this question, can you technically be allowed to do several back to back visa exempt arrivals by air with the 30 day extension? So after the visa exempt 30 day extension is over you hop onto a plane to say Vietnam then turn right back around to Thailand on another visa exempt stay. I know you guys tell people to apply for the correct visa but why is that if there is no limit to exempt visa arrivals by air in a year? Thank you in advance for the response!

, Technically you can, and no written rule on how many times you can do back-to-back tourist entries. The decision for your entry is at the discretion of the immigration officer whom you'd deal with at passport control. If she has doubts about you being a genuine tourist and thinks you are 'living' in Thailand, you would be questioned and might be denied entry. Some got questioned on the 2nd entry, and some got on his 10th.

Good question and Iโ€™m watching for the the right answer on this question too. I donโ€™t have that situation, but I see myself needing to know this maybe in the future.

Up to immigration if you have to many by plane but the Boarder Bounces it's only two within a year.

No limit if you fly in

You got your wires crossed a bit

You can do TWO visa exempt entries by LAND in a calendar year, but technically there is no limit to the number you can get entering by air
