TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the possibility of converting a spousal visa to a work permit in Thailand. It reveals that holders of a Non-Immigrant O visa based on marriage can apply for a work permit without leaving the country. However, others mention that a Non-B visa may be required for this conversion, indicating the need for clarity on visa types.

If you have the non imm O visa based on marriage to a Thai national you are able to apply for a work permit and work legally with that visa.

they have a Non-O visa/extension based on being married to a foreigner who legally works here. They can't legally work on that visa/extension type, that's why they wanna switch to a non-B

but do I have to leave the country in order to process the Non B? I’m not married to a Thai. I had heard that it may be possible to convert from a Non O to Non B in market?

What you are referring to is a non b visa after a work permit is a separate thing.

And you will have. Require the non b outside Thailand out from what I know
