Hello, I’d like some advice:

I have a Non O spouse visa married to my Thai husband. I would like to work for a school in Phayao.

1) Am I able to apply for a work permit based on this visa or

must I convert the Non O to a Non B visa?

2) And if I need to apply for a Non B, can I apply in Bangkok or must I exit Thailand and apply in another country.

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user asked if they can apply for a work permit based on their Non O spouse visa or if they need to convert it to a Non B visa for employment at a school in Phayao. Responses indicated that they can legally obtain a work permit with their current Non O visa without needing to convert to a Non B visa, despite some employers suggesting otherwise. Additionally, they may need to have relevant qualifications for teaching positions.

and seeing as this is the thai VISA advice group, not the "what job can I work in here as a foreigner" group 😮 ,

AND

seeing as we answered YES to the question whether the O/P can legally hold a work permit on a Non-O visa/extension based on marriage to a thai I think we are done with this thread 🙂

Good Luck to the O/P (y)

You can get a wp on a non O visa, but what will be your job title? If teacher then I think you still need to show relevant qualifications, if you don't have the qualifications you can get a wp as a trainer. Your school would need to speak with the department of work and labor.

as Lloyd said there's no issue at all holding a work permit and legally working on a Non-O visa/extension based on marriage to a thai

Keep in mind many employers will tell you that you have to switch (which you do NOT) because once you're on a Non-B they have more control over you (seeing as if you lose your job you lose the extension whereas on the Non-O if you lose your job you keep your extension)
