TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can apply for a marriage visa (NON-O) from outside of Thailand at a Thai embassy. To obtain a bank statement needed for the application, you can use your bank's online services. It's important to note that you only need a Thai bank account when applying for an extension of stay within Thailand.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.

You are mixing up different aspects. Get the visa from home country (non O) arrive in Thailand, open bank account, deposit funds at least 2

Months before visa expiry, apply for 1 year extension based on marriage. Job done Obviously check all other extensions requirements with your local immigration office

You apply at a Thai embassy. You submit a bank statement from any bank. Do you not know how to get a bank statement from your bank's online portal or app? The only time you are required to have a Thai bank account is when you are applying for an extension at an immigration office in Thailand.

Maybe a bit strange remark in these 'bank times' but when people came to Thailand already for a couple of years, came 'as a tourist' and managed to open a Thai bank account and already put

k฿ in that account 'in the past', (E.g. because they want to retire later), I thought I read that you also MAY use THAT Thai account as proof for the financial requirement for a non imm O in your home country ? Thanks !

You can use ANY bank account, Thai or not, at most embassies.

Ok, that is what had me confused. I thought even if applying from outside I had to have funds in a Thai account.

That's for INSIDE of Thailand from immigration, not to purchase a visa from a Thai embassy. This person clearly says "outside the country" so they are applying at am embassy. Why would an embassy, not in Thailand, that sells visas to people that have never been to Thailand, require a Thai bank account? Obviously they don't.

I know that I'm not wrong. You do NOT need a Thai bank account to apply for a visa from an embassy. The embassy website you linked even shows the amounts in UK currency. Which a Thai bank account wouldn't use obviously.

Thanks. I thought you had to show funds in a Thai bank. No?

as Brandon said you need to show the funds in the Thai bank when applying for the extension. I recall that it is 400,000 Bhat for 2 months as opposed to the extension of stay for retirement which is 800,000 Bhat for 2 months.

Ohhh, only for the extension, not the initial one year (or whatever it is)?

non-o is 90 days youll need the Thai bank to extend for the year

no you still seem confused. The initial visa, you apply for in your home country normally, is 3 months and you show your local bank information. You them apply for the 12 month extension when you are in Thailand. When you arrive in Thailand on the Visa you should open the Thai bank account and transfer the 400,000 Bhat into it. I believe it needs to be there 2 months prior to the application for extension

it’s not 3 months it’s 90 days. Stop adding to the confusion
