Hi, I would like to ask about marriage visa. One requirement is having 400.000thb on Thai bank account. for a few months. And question is - if I have account in Bangkok Bank, but account was opened in different country (for example Singapore). It will be ok or I should open account in Thailand?

Thanks in advance for any response.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question pertains to the requirements for a marriage visa in Thailand, specifically whether the 400,000 THB must be held in a Thai bank account if opened in another country, such as Singapore. It was clarified that for an annual extension of stay using bank funds, the 400,000 THB must be in a Thai bank account for at least two months prior to application. However, if applying for a Non-O visa from outside Thailand, funds can come from a foreign bank account. The discussion also touched on the visa application process and timelines.

Based on above, I think the best choice could be Savannakhet. Actually everywhere when I don't need to have THB on Thai account, because it's easier for me, if I already have this money.

How long does it take to get passport back, after applying?

Thanks for answer. You mean I can apply for marriage visa outside country and then I can use my country bank confirmation (it doesn't have to be in THB even), yes?

It is almost the same, like in same same but different. For example in Singapore you apply on line first, in Penang you walk in, in Kuala Lumpur you fill in a check list and make an appointment to apply, in Vientiane you make an appointment to apply but in Savannakhet you can walk in and does not need financial requirements. Every Thai Consulate have a website, check it for specific requirements.

Ohh, I didn't know. So it's easier to apply abroad, if I have already money on my private account. Is there any more requirements for this kind of visa applying abroad? Or the rest is the same like during applying inside Thailand?
Robert *******
Only when you apply INSIDE Thailand at an Immigration Office the financial requirements are money or income into a Thai Bank on your name

OK, but if I apply in Thailand I need to have this money on Thai account, yes ?

If you apply at a Thai Consulate you need to show proof of funds in a bank account in your name, where that bank is located is not an issue. If you apply in HCMC Vietnam or Savannakhet there is no financial requirement at all.

IF you are applying for a year-long, multi-entry Non-O VISA from a thai consulate in another country that requires proof of funds, you can use a bank account in your country to meet the proof of funds.

IF you are getting a yearly extension of stay inside the country at the immigration office using banked money method the 400k baht has to be in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the extension.

I would imagine the immigration office would not accept a bangkok bank account opened at the Singapore branch to meet the proof of funds for a yearly extension here inside the country

BUT

I could be wrong and the only way you'll know if your immigration office will or won't accept it is to go to them and ask..
