TLDR : Answer Summary
You can apply for a Certificate of Entry (COE) for tourist reasons if your passport qualifies for visa-exempt entry to Thailand. However, you will need to undergo quarantine upon arrival. For those whose nationality allows Visa on Arrival, they need to apply for a visa as the current policy excludes this option.
Yes you can apply based on visa-exempt. But you still need to go in quarantine upon arrival in Thailand. Including quarantine period you can stay 45 days but when in Thailand you can apply for a 30 day extension. Check out the official websites of the Thai Embassy in Roma for details.
correct. I am from Netherlands -same. When you get into the COE form you can choose which visa category applies to you - choose “visa exemption” , i think it is category 11 or 12. When on COE site, fill out personal details, upload passport, picture and bank statement. Then submit for phase 1 confirmation. After that, arrange asq hotel, flight and insurance, and upload that. Easy. Also get RT-PCR test and fit to fly certificate before you fly, fill out T8 form and also download the Thai corona app. It all sounds a bit difficult but if you study the official sites it is actually quite easy
If your passport nationality qualified for visa exempt entry, you can apply for a certificate of entry (COE) from the Thai consulate based on visa exempt qualification. Your local consulate website should give you info on how. If your nationality had Visa On Arrival qualification for Thailand instead, then that is currently not possible and you will need to apply for a visa as well as the COE.
thanks for the info, I'm Italian and I was wondering which are the requirements to get this COE, I mean, while applying for the CEO online if I can put for tourist reason
Visa exempt can only be for tourist reasons, not for work or meetings so you must always put it is for tourist reasons. Make sure that you follow the directions on your consulate website for filling out the COE and upload the necessary documents.
