Is it possible for people planning to enter on VISA exemption to get a CoE?

There was some information circulated that indicated this and the CoE site has an appropriate option for it (just added a couple days ago), but my wife's CoE application was rejected on the basis that this is not supported yet.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around whether individuals entering Thailand on a visa exemption can obtain a Certificate of Entry (CoE). While there have been recent changes mentioned that suggest a possibility for this option, there is confusion as one user's application was rejected. Other comments indicate that even if there are rumors of approval, official confirmation in the Royal Gazette is still pending, causing concerns about the effectiveness of this process at local embassies. Users also recommend applying for a standard tourist visa instead if time-sensitive.

I think yes but you have to give dates of no longer than the 30 days stay then extend while your there

This hasn't been brought in yet has it ??

Even if it has been published (which I am not aware of yet) it can take quite a number of days or even weeks to filter that through to all the local embassies/consulates. If time is of the essence then perhaps you’d be better off applying for the standard tourist visa- which most embassies are now selling.

There’s been press reports that this has been approved by the government, but nothing has been published in the Royal Gazette bringing it in to law. (Edited) to my knowledge. A post on another thread has someone stating that they have a CoE based upon a visa exempt. So maybe it has been passed.

You have to have a COE in order to enter Thailand.
