Can I enter Thailand on a visa-exempt entry if I book an ASQ hotel and later extend my stay?

Hey guys! :)

Im currently not in my home country, so getting a Special Tourist Visa or Tourist Visa from my local embassy would mean sending my passport across borders or flying back home and go in quarantine.

I see there is a 45 day visa exempt - if I book a ASQ hotel and take a flight in the next few days, will I most likely be fine by just extending that?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about entering Thailand using a visa-exempt status while currently abroad and avoiding a return to their home country for a visa. They asked if booking an ASQ hotel would allow them to manage an extension afterward. Responses indicated that as a Norwegian, they are eligible for a 45-day visa-exempt entry but need to obtain a Certificate of Entry (CoE) from their country of departure, including all necessary documentation such as health insurance, hotel booking, flight details, and a PCR test for entry.

FYI

You will need to apply for CoE from the country of departure.

Not the country of your passport.

You still need all required documents including COE to enter Thailand on visa exempt.

But as Norwegian you will be stamped for 45days upon entry on visa exempt scheme.

Not all nationalities qualify for a visa exempt. What's your nationality?

you are qualified for visa-exempt entry. But you still must obtain the COE. You will have to apply online and follow their instructions. Need health insurance, ASQ hotel booking, flight details, and the PCR test to board the flight etc.
