Can people on ED Visas use the 60-day extension?

My ED visa stamp expires Dec-20 (I'll only be 3 months into it), but my outgoing flight is on Jan-1, so I need to get an extension to cover the in-between time.

Extending the ED Visa itself would cost significantly more and introduces 90-day reporting requirements, so I'm trying to avoid that

Answer summary

The post discusses the possibility of obtaining a 60-day extension for an ED visa in Thailand, which is necessary for the user whose visa expires shortly before their planned outbound flight. The comment suggests visiting the immigration office that issued the visa for clarification on extension options, including potential extensions related to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

I see a trip to your immigration office in your future :O Go to the office that issued your ED visa and ask them about the 60 day unable to travel due to covid extension..

I'm assuming they'd tell me to come back later if I went now, so I'll go closer towards Dec-20. Is the 60-day extension still going to be offered then?

they'll either let you extend it by getting a 60 day extension OR you'll end up on overstay and pay 12 days of overstay (500X12=6000 baht) :O
